Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

No. You can expect a mixture of practical and theory training – a lot of candidates expect just the practical element of training e.g. “How to drive a truck” but there is also a theory element which covers topics such as legislation, causes of accidents, operator safety code and stability characteristics of the truck.

The minimum age to operate a lift truck is 16 years old. Anyone under 18 years old will need to be supervised when using a lift truck by someone over the age of 18 until they themselves turn 18.

No. Unless you will be operating a lift truck on a public highway.

Our training courses are restricted to a maximum of three people with one Instructor and one truck (3:1:1 ratio). Our Instructors cannot accept more than this ratio on any training course and cannot instruct on more than one truck at a time. If there is more than one candidate on your training course, when it is not your turn to drive you will be observing and learning from someone else driving, receiving information and feedback from the Instructor. Our Instructors are highly trained and will make sure you are engaged at all times.

No there is no theory test, only a practical test is required.

No, we will supply with a 4×4 vehicle and a trailer for your course. We would prefer the use of our vehicles as they meet the DVSA regulations and for the purposes of training.
