This course has been written in-line with the requirements and guidance set down in the Health & Safety Executive’s (HSE) Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) L117 Rider operated Lift Trucks-Operator Training and Safe Use, along with other recognised guidance from HSE such as HSG136: A Guide to Workplace Transport Safety.
The purpose of this course is to introduce candidates to the requirements of this critical role and the training and safe operating practices that should be at the heart of any MHE environment. It is aimed at those wishing to move into a managerial or supervisory role within an MHE environment and those already in the role looking to improve their understanding of their duties.
RTITB Instructors who have sat on a Lift Truck Instructor Trainer Assessment and wish to continue delivering Train the Trainer to RTITB standards will also have to complete this course.
This course will equip candidates with the information they need to work safely when dealing with a variety of manual handling tasks within transport, warehousing and logistics. Naturally, all workplaces will have different manual handling requirements depending on the types of items that need manual handling and the assistive equipment available, not to mention, the environment.

Our course is available for a maximum of 8 candidates, running over 1 day. Upon successful completion of the course all candidates will be RTITB Accredited
In accordance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), all operations including lifting equipment must be properly planned and carried out by competent persons. This course aims to provide those nominated for the role of slinger signaller with the knowledge necessary to safely take part in and guide lifting operations with cranes. Our course is acceptable to the industry standards; in line with ISO 23853, Cranes-training of slingers and signallers.
The types of environment where lifting operations with cranes might take place are wide ranging, therefore impossible to cover all scenarios that may be encountered within this role. For this reason, RTITB draws on the methodology followed in accredited materials handling equipment training, where an emphasis is placed on basic skills acquisition first, which is then supplemented with specific job familiarisation training.
Note: Training on pendent cranes will be incorporated at the beginning of this course if the learners requires this.
